About

The aim of IBA Ireland is to encourage participation in long distance motorcycling  . Although the opportunities within Ireland for long distance riding may seem somewhat limited, the Introduction of  Ireland specific IBA rides (circuit of ireland, Ireland SS 1000 and 32 county challenge) and also local competitive endurance rallies provides Irish riders an opportunity to meet fellow long distance enthusiasts. If you like riding that little bit further than your average motorcyclist, are sick of doing that same old Sunday Run with the lads, and want to test yourself, then we may be the organisation for you.

Some riders combine one of our certificate rides with a charity fund raising effort.  Riders get the benefit of raising money for Charity, Membership of the IBA and your sponsors can see the ride has been independantly audited. If you wish to combine a certificate ride with a fund raising effort - go for it.

IBA Ireland has it's own Forum within the Main IBA site. Follow the link and click on IBA Ireland.

About the IBA

The Iron Butt Association is dedicated to safe, long-distance, endurance motorcycle riding. Although based in the United States, we have over 24,000+ members world-wide. One of our more popular slogans is, "The World Is Our Playground."

The IBA hosts several rides, the most notable being the 11-day, 11,000+ mile Iron Butt Rally[tm]. In addition to the various "certificate " rides available we also host a number of Long Distance Rallies. The Bally Rally is a 24 hr event, whilst the Wolfhound Rally is an 75 hour marathon. Think of these events as the Irish Photo rally gone mad. Although these rallies may seem intimidating to the newcomer, plenty of assistance is on hand from the organisers and other competitors to explain what needs to be done to enable a rider to have a good chance of finishing one of these rallies.

Iron Butt UK hosts the 36 hr Brit Butt Rally which enables Irish riders to ride an event on "foreign" territory.

The Iron Butt Association (IBA) does not have membership in the traditional sense. We do not have yearly dues, formal meetings or a monthly newsletter. The IBA is a little more loose knit organization than most clubs.

The Iron Butt Association publishes a  Quarterly Magazine and several documents about the Iron Butt Rally and Long-Distance Endurance Riding, including our hottest title, the "Archive of Wisdom", which contains a list of Long Distance Riding tips from our most seasoned, veteran riders.
